  1. Romney said "gasoline prices have doubled" since Obama took office.

    The average price for regular gasoline was $3.84 last week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, a bit more than double the $1.89 average on the week Obama was sworn in.

    Add the California State excise tax and that comes to $4.45.

    You'd have to be somebody rich, like a Chem Attorney to weather the storm without feeling the pinch... ;^)

  2. That was diesel, LL. Gasoline is slightly less, actually--about $4.20 or so per gallon.

  3. The Federal excise taxes on diesel are actually higher than those levied on gasoline per gallon. The State of CA is exactly opposite: they tax diesel less than gasoline. This surprised me when I first realized it, but it's on the pump. The State got something right for once.

  4. I went to Chicago a couple weeks ago. That helps prepare me for the sticker shock of gas prices every winter in San Diego.
