Pistol Wars: Glock 34

The contender: Glock 34

Caliber: 9mm

In your hand: The Glock 34 is a recent addition to the Austrian gunmaker's line of small, conceal and carry 9 mm handguns. The weapon is small and lightweight, having a mostly plastic body and matching trigger, barrel, and action hardware. The magazine holds 10 rounds, but the spring is so strong that it was hard to get the tenth bullet in the magazine.

On the range: Sighting was OK. I was able to put 10 rounds within a 5 inch circle at 10 yards. Accuracy falls off pretty quickly after that.

Overall:The Glock 34 would not be my first choice of hand gun. I'm interested in comparing and contrasting various makes and models and I had to start somewhere.

  1. I have a Glock 29 which looks to be roughly the same size and in 9mm. I usually carry it in an ankle holster. Though I can place shots at 25 meters, I've fired a lot of rounds in my life and accuracy with a handgun has more to do with YOU (usually) than the weapon you're shooting. The short sighting radius makes it more difficult to hit the target, though.

I am a fan of Glock firearms and my daily carry is a Glock 21 (.45) with the Israeli modifications on it.

  2. I intend to review a bunch more Glocks (the ones they have at the range).

I'm not a great shot. My son was more accurate with this Glock actually. But he has 20/20 vision.

I like the .45 caliber better, especially the 1911 types. But we already covered a bit of that earlier.

  3. There are a number of good choices. The one that feels best that you fire the most accurately is the best choice for you...so long as it's .45 caliber...
