Absence is the highest form of presence ~ James Joyce
Way OT, but I have been reading a book about Grant Wood, the regionalist painter. He studied in Europe and synthesized a number of styles into his mature work. I learned of a post-expressionist movement in Weimar Germany called neue sachlichkeit, which seems to have a variety of meanings. In any case, Wood painted the Midwest in a way that always struck me, a person from the Southeast, as most wonderfully alive. But, as you were - I hope you have a very Merry Christmas way out there on the other edge of the continent.
Haha I remember Grant Wood from his parody of TY carrying a BBQ fork.
LOL @ CL. And, as it turns out, he was a profound and witty painter who created many other great works.
